Gareth Fraser-King currently runs the Symantec Backup and Recovery Practice within the Information Management Group Global helping to train and enable customers, partners and employees around the globe on NetBackup, Backup Exec and System Recovery.
In the recent past he has run both the Global Technical Field Enablement Team as well as the Regional Product Management Team for Backup Exec. He is a IT veteran with over fourteen years with Symantec (formally VERITAS, formally Seagate Software).
Prior to Symantec he was at Sybase running the EMEA Technical Support Operation and in the far distant past he worked as an IT analyst, both client-side and agency analyst, with extensive experience in infrastructure IT, producing high level messaging, white papers, articles, presentations, technical and marketing deliverables.
In addition he is a technical author with several books published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc: “Data Lifecycles: Managing Data for Strategic Advantage” & “Data Leaks for Dummies” and a recent book on Backup published by Smart Questions: “Thinking of … Backing up Data in your Business”.
He has worked extensively around the globe in Product Management, Technical Support, Product Marketing, technical authoring, business development and quality management. Acknowledged by his customers and colleagues as a valued member of a team that understands business requirements across international markets, he has the ability to take complex product solutions and ensure that they can be understood by all – from the sales force to customers, from CEOs to IT administrators. He can capture the essence of products and features and explain them in simple and memorable ways, tying the technology to business problems and solutions. His perceptive views of markets and technology provide a valuable input to the company’s technical strategy and direction.
